St. Mark's Nursery School is a Christian-based preschool. We believe children learn best through play, so our days are built on a play-as-we-learn philosophy. Our curriculum follows the PA Early Learning Standards for pre-K. Certified, experienced teachers lead every class. Our mission is to provide a quality, Christian-based, affordable preschool education to members of the community without regard to race, color, national ethnic, or origin.
Walk into a room and you see children at work: building, painting, sorting, talking. Teachers plan activities that follow the curriculum and the children's interests. Small groups let a teacher sit close and ask questions. Children move between quiet corners and busier spaces. Outside, the fence-enclosed playground gives them room to run.
Our teachers are certified and experienced, and they bring both training and warmth to the classroom. The curriculum follows the PA Early Learning Standards for pre-K, so you can be confident your child is learning what they need for the next step. What you notice in practice
Teachers get down at eye level to talk with children. They follow what a child is curious about and build the next activity from there. Small groups let every child take a turn. A certified teacher stays close and steps in when a hand is needed.
Rooms are set up so children can reach what they need. Low shelves hold blocks, books, and art materials. The day has a steady rhythm: busy stretches, then quieter ones, then outside time on the fence-enclosed playground.
How we work with families
Teachers share what your child did that day, not just how it went. What they built, who they played with, a new word. If you have a question, ask. The director, Kellen Michalowski, is part of the school day.
